Quick fixes

Open your gate by hand
  1. Find the manual release key. It usually came with the motor and is often kept with the spare remotes.
  2. Unlock the release on the motor and turn or lift it to disengage the motor.
  3. Slide or swing the gate slowly by hand. Keep hands and feet clear of the track, the wheels and the gap next to the wall.
  4. Lock the release again afterwards. Some motors only re-engage once the gate is moved a little.

Can't find the key, or the release won't turn? Don't force it. Call us.

Battery flat or weak

Common after loadshedding. Signs: the gate moves slowly, stops halfway, beeps, or only works once the power is back.

  1. Check that the motor's power supply is switched on at its plug or isolator.
  2. After an outage, give the battery a few hours to charge.
  3. Still weak? Batteries wear out with age and frequent outages, and a new one is usually a quick job.

Remote not working
  1. Try a spare remote, the intercom or the keypad. If those work, it's the remote.
  2. Replace the remote's small battery.
  3. If nothing opens the gate, the motor may have no power. See the battery guide above.
  4. New or replacement remotes have to be coded to your motor, which we can do for you.

Storm or lightning damage
  1. If you smell burning, see scorch marks, or the unit is wet or sparking, don't touch the motor or its controller.
  2. Only if it's safe, switch off the power to the motor at its plug or isolator.
  3. Use the manual release to open the gate if you need to get in or out.
  4. Lightning often damages the control card. Ask us about surge protection to help stop it happening again.
